ASICS GEL-Lyte V ‘Tartufo’ Pack – Release Info
Depending on who you believe, the ASICS GEL-LYTE V ‘TARTUFO’ PACK is either inspired by the tartufo mushroom or the Italian chocolate dessert that shares the same name. Either way, ASICS has served up two earthy and edible-looking colourways for your delectation.
The black/brown version combines Black with Mid Brown and Dark Brown details on the upper, while the off-white/tan is a mixture of Slight White with Cathay Spice and Sand. Both pairs are constructed with a combination of suede and ostrich skin style leather. Speckled midsoles, Wild Dove (grey) hits on the heel, and a Wild Dove/Grey combo on the outsole, complete the look. So mushroom or dessert? In The Drop Date’s considered opinion the black/brown version is a homage to the dessert and the off-white tan iteration is a nod to the fungi, which is an elusive and prized white truffle from Italy’s Piedmont region, and sometimes referred to as the “diamond of the kitchen” such is its hallowed status. October is the start of truffle season over there too, so it makes sense to us. Now, while truffles are very rare and expensive, we imagine these two colourways will be a little easier to come by. They both look delicious, so the only decision is whether to buy one or both.
