A Closer Look at the Nike Air Jordan XI Monstar Mash
It’s not long now until the Jordan Brand’s monster Space Jam drop and, speaking of monsters, the collection will include what is probably the most eagerly anticipated Air Jordan of 2016, the AIR JORDAN XI MONSTAR MASH. Let’s take a closer look.
The ‘Monstar Mash’, which we previously referred to as the ‘Space Jam’ in our roundup of the forthcoming collection, is part of the 20th anniversary celebration of the animated film. In a move that will please the purists, the newest iteration will stay largely true to the 1995 original, which Michael Jordan wore during the 1995 NBA playoffs. This version does have a slightly higher rising patent leather mudguard on the heel and, embroidered on the heel tab, the number ’45’ – Jordan’s shirt number during that era – as opposed to the typical number ’23’. Other features include a Concord Jumpman, Nike Air insoles, a white midsole and a translucent outsole that has a herringbone pattern that aids traction and durability, along with the Jumpman/Jordan on the tongue tab. The celebratory 2016 edition will come packaged in a special Looney Tunes-themed box complete with illustrations of Bugs Bunny and The Monsters.
