The REEBOK CLASSIC X MACHINE GUN KELLY CLUB C OVERBRANDED takes a leaf out of the ‘90s style book to create six new spins on the casual classic.
Back in June, Reebok Classic enlisted creative whirlwind Machine Gun Kelly as one of their ambassadors, joining the likes of Teyana Taylor and Rae Sremmund as a face of the brand. A musician, actor, model, and producer by trade – “MGK” jumps headfirst into Reebok’s non-stop activity this month by fronting the campaign for their iconic Club C model.
First introduced as a tennis shoe back in 1985, the shoe quickly became a casual classic and has seen somewhat of a resurgence over the past 12 months. Adding an extra dose of attitude to the trainer this month, Reebok Classic gear up for a new Club C drop with MGK at the helm. Titled ‘Overbranded’, the forthcoming pack does what it says on the tin and takes a leaf out of the ‘90s style bible to add six unique spins on the timeless silhouette.
Staying true to the era’s unmistakable and brazen style, the selection features a range of logo dense designs and loud colourways, with the Club C transformed in a choice of either red, mid-grey, army green, black, or classic white tumbled leather uppers. A curveball is then thrown with an additional white model featuring an all-over logo print in grey, which is sure to turn more than a few heads. Further nods are made to the ‘90s with the collection’s choice of vintage Reebok branding, which as well as taking shape on the outer side, is given a repeated print on the medial midsole for an extra blast of character.
Perfectly suited to MGK’s own outspoken yet considered style, the campaign imagery was shot in Chicago by photographer Atiba Jefferson. Utilising an abandoned warehouse space, it pays credit to the raves and warehouse parties that attributed to the decade’s infamous style, which is brought up to date by Reebok’s multi-faceted new face.
