Nike Revives the Astrograbber in True Retro Fashion
Nike’s throwback streak continues, and next up is the return of a true archive, the Astrograbber. Originally built for the American football pitch, this retro runner is getting a modern update while staying firmly rooted in its heritage.
A Closer Look…
As its name suggests, the Astrograbber was first designed for traction on astroturf. The 2025 version keeps its distinctive rectangular sole pattern. But this time it’s paired with a much sleeker, lifestyle-friendly upper.
Nike keeps the core of the design intact, with a grippy underfoot tooling in front and centre. But the rest has been cleaned up for everyday wear with sidewalls, angular lace stays, and a straight-edged silhouette. The pair arrives in two colourways.
A clean black and yellow pair and a light blue and yellow version that feels like a subtle nod to NFL legend Dan Fouts and his Chargers glory days.
