The NEW BALANCE M1500 LDN MARATHON finds one of the most-loved New Balance models receiving a special make-over in honour of the 2018 London Marathon. Keeping things relevant and credible, it’s only appropriate that one of the capital’s finest retailers, FOOTPATROL, is hosting the exclusive launch of the shoe this weekend.
Firstly, a little history is always a good foundation to set – and the 1500 has certainly made its presence felt throughout the past three decades. Originally launched as a top-tier running shoe in 1989, the 1500 was designed by the legendary Steven Smith: an innovative footwear designer who is responsible for many of our favourite shoes from a variety of brands. To say that the 1500 has stood the test of time would be a vast understatement: it remains one of the most recognisable and respected footwear designs of all-time.
For this special edition, New Balance have gone back to the 1500’s athletic roots and applied a special London Marathon theme to the shoe. Made in the Flimby factory in the Lake District, the premium pigskin and mesh construction embody the New Balance style of the late ’80s and early ’90s. Bold neon accents add an element of energy to the grey and navy backdrop, resulting in an eye-catching piece of footwear. To keep things official, the trademark ENCAP midsole is in its usual place, rounding things off in authentic NB style.
The launch of the NEW BALANCE M1500 LDN MARATHON coincides with the start of the 2018 London Marathon: they drop online at 10am on SUNDAY 22 APRIL, exclusively at FOOTPATROL via the banner below. For those who can’t get online, an in-store release takes place at midday the same day.
