Bisso’s Latest Saucony Collab Celebrates Caribbean Heritage

Bisso teams up with Saucony to drop the Shadow 5000 ‘Bondamanjak’, a vibrant sneaker design inspired by Caribbean culture and the fiery Bondamanjak chili pepper.

A Closer Look at the Bisso x Saucony Shadow 5000 ‘Bondamanjak’…

Fabrice Le Goff, a.k.a Bisso, teamed up with Saucony once again. For this collaboration, the Shadow 5000 model is chosen, a dynamic silhouette with timeless elements. The sneaker debuts in the Bondamanjak colourway, drawing inspiration from the vibrant Caribbean culture.

The sneakers’ name refers to the Bondamanjak chili pepper, a symbol of strength, much like the women in the Caribbean and French Guiana. This sneaker pays homage to Bisso’s cultural roots, incorporating unique vibrant details.

A key feature is the traditional madras textile, a cultural symbol of festivity and heritage. This textile is placed on the sneaker’s mid panel, contrasting beautifully with the bright green and orange accents on the toe and heel, made from premium leather and suede.

The colour palette is also inspired by the chili pepper, showcasing the different ripening stages of the Bondamanjak, colours ranging from green to yellow and from orange to deep red. The blue inner lining is also an homage to the Caribbean Sea giving the sneaker a unique character.

The sneaker comes in a special custom box with a wood-like finish and chili pepper details. The madras print can also be seen inside that box.

The campaign was shot during Fête des Cuisinières, a festival celebrating Guadeloupe’s culinary traditions and the remarkable women who carry them forward.
