The NIKELAB SOCK DART MID X STONE ISLAND editions arrive this week, bringing a new cut and construction to the unusual-but-popular running silhouette.
The original Nike Sock Dart debuted back in 2004, presenting avant-garde styling to an audience who had been weaned on more traditional running shapes. The unique design reduced components to a minimum, resulting in a clean upper section and functional materials that offered a customised fit. Instead of being a random experiment from the heads at Nike, the Sock Dart contained elements of things we’d seen previously: a stretch mesh upper on the Bermuda from ’79 or the snug-fitting neoprene of the Air Flow, for example.
This new collaboration release comes via the masterminds at Stone Island, long regarded as leaders in their use of technical fabrics and textiles, and presents the Sock Dart in a new mid-cut height. Three colourways have been unveiled so far – Navy, Sequoia and Black – each featuring a new textured treatment on the top of the forefoot. The addition of tumbled leather to the inner boot and the new heel tab elevate the Sock Dart into the premium category, resulting in a deluxe appearance for this compelling shoe. Which of the three colourways are you going to pick?
The NIKELAB SOCK DART MID X STONE ISLAND will be available on THURSDAY 26 JANUARY: keep checking our Release Page for the full stockist details. In the meantime, you can check the current Sock Dart collection at NIKE via the banner below.
