To help it celebrate its 50th anniversary, the K-SWISS X AAPE collaboration sees the BAPE offshoot team up with the Californian brand with the fiveĀ stripes.
The two brands have teamed up to apply BAPE’s signature ape-infused camouflage pattern to K-Swiss’ most popular silhouette, the Classic ā66. The camo is offset by white details and accents. The brand’s familiar and distinctiveĀ five stripes branding is there, as well as its D-rings, unique three-piece toe design – originally created to support the lateral movements involved inĀ tennis – and the original shield logo branding. Apart from the camo print, AAPE contributes its logo on the tongue and heels, as well as ‘AAPE BY A BATHING APE’ text printed on one of the stripes. K-Swiss has been marking its half century of existence all through 2016 with a number of high-profile collaborations. In The Drop Date’s opinion, this joint effort with AAPE is easily the pick of the bunch.
The Classic ’66Ā was one of the first leather tennis shoes to ever be worn in a major tournament and this yearās retro is the result of detailed research to ensure that the brand achieved theĀ closest possible stitch-for-stitch replica of the original specification.
TheĀ K-SWISS X AAPE will drop on THURSDAY 15 DECEMBER and will be available at a number of stockists, including END., who you can check via the banner below.
