The ADIDAS X PARLEY BOOST COLLAB proves once and for all that eco-friendly shoes don’t have to look like hemp hippie slippers.
Following on from Parley’s previous adidas Futurecraft project, the new silhouette was created for World Oceans Day and features a recycled upper sat atop a Boost sole unit. The shoe’s signature Ocean Plastic material is created using waste plastic and illegal gill nets recovered from the ocean by Parley and Sea Shepherd as part of their initiative to clean up the seas. For this collab, the sea-green yarn envelops a white upper with undulating stripes reminiscent of wave patterns or a contour map of the seabed. Hats off to adidas and Parley for making sustainable design look as good as the cause it’s promoting.
The ADIDAS X PARLEY BOOST COLLAB was only available to 50 competition winners, but the material is set to be used for further adidas products as part of a drive towards more sustainable manufacturing.
