NikeLab Air Safari Royal – Available Now
The NIKELAB AIR SAFARI ROYAL updates the much-loved classic Safari model with premium materials for 2016.
There’s no getting away from the fact that the original Nike Air Safari from 1987 remains one of the most unique and interesting silhouettes in the Nike archive. The original intended use for the Safari was never crystal clear. Was it a running shoe? Some kind of trails pseudo-ACG design? Could it be some kind of all-weather court shoe? Technically, it was officially designed to be a running shoe, but we’ve always rated it strongly as a street-ready piece of footwear, with the focus more on the shape and style rather than than overt brand messaging. A far cry from some of today’s more lurid releases perhaps, but we think every wardrobe needs a pair of Safaris in it.
There have been many iterations of the Safari over the years, but these premium NikeLab editions are up there with the best yet. Top level materials, great colours and some innovative details, such as the ankle cushion and leather sockliner. A seriously impressive update to one of our favourite silhouettes, all four colours here are worth your attention.
