The PUMA AUTODISC sees the brand introduce an auto-lacing system designed to offer automated and tunable support.

Let’s be honest, we were all kind of expecting Nike to be the first brand to introduce self-lacing to the market, but it now looks like we were wrong. Although the AUTODISC is not technically a laced set up, but instead utilises a uniquely configured cable system that is tightened or loosened by a servo motor in an adaptation of the brand’s patented Disc system. This first prototype features a predominantly navy blue upper, with a black overlay and small hits of bright blue and silver on the branding to break things a little. Down below is a black Ignite midsole, that ties in nicely with the upper and works perfectly with the futuristic aesthetic. As this is still a prototype the on-board battery that powers the AUTODISC is charged by a micro USB cable; the final version will instead have a charging plate, so you won’t have to worry about plugging them in. This is some innovative tech, which is wrapped up in a good looking package… so hats off to PUMA.

The PUMA AUTODISC is scheduled to release in 2016, so make sure to keep checking back with us for updates.
