Is This the Krusty Krab? Nope, It’s the adidas x SpongeBob Stan Smith Freizeit
adidas is (sort of) teaming up with SpongeBob SquarePants to release a Stan Smith Freizeit version. A sneaker inspired by the beloved character’s shoes from the series. It’s not the first time we’ve seen a fictional look come to life in the sneaker world. Designs featuring popular characters from all kinds of franchises are, of course, a big thing. So are creations like this one, which actually resemble the style of a fictional character. Now, we can get ready for a look straight from Bikini Bottom with the SpongeBob x adidas Stan Smith Freizeit ‘Black’.
A closer Look at the SpongeBob x adidas Stan Smith Freizeit ‘Black’…
The Freizeit version of the Stan Smith keeps the classic silhouette you know and love, featuring the signature upper, perforation holes on the mid-panel, and a rounded toe. This edition adds a chunky twist and a glossy finish, giving the timeless design a playful, modern update.
The thick outsole provides extra grip (even suitable for Bikini Bottom…) and adds a subtly formal touch. On the tongue, SpongeBob replaces Stan Smith’s usual portrait, as seen on other special editions. We also see some additional SpongeBob references on the insole.

The adidas Stan Smith Freizeit is a reinterpretation of the classic Stan Smith silhouette. The sneaker features a chunkier sole compared to the traditional design, giving it a thicker, more robust, and lifestyle-oriented look. The silhouette also incorporates premium and playful materials, adding a hybrid vibe. This model combines adidas’ classic tennis-shoe heritage with a more streetwear- and casual-oriented aesthetic. “Freizeit” is the German word for leisure.
