AKIO FOOTWEAR
The forthcoming launch of AKIO FOOTWEAR has got us hooked. Footwear brands come and go, but from what we’ve seen so far, these guys are going to be bringing something slightly different to the table. There are already a million-and-one Visvim or Clarks-inspired shoes desperately trying to fill the gap between trainers and smarter footwear, but Akio look they’re on the right track with something a little different…
The Akio brand concept is to build from the ground up, blending classic athletic structure with minimal modern aesthetics. Simple and clean designs, backed up with functional and supportive construction, should have interest piqued until the launch later this summer. The ORION is the first model and features features dual tongues – the first fits closely to the foot and utilises grosgrain pull tabs to ensure a fluid fit, while the dominant top layer offers the forefoot protection from water penetration. Minimal branding throughout keeps things low-key and stylish, but with a premium touch.
So far, we’ve only seen detail crops and hints of what’s to come (and you can see more over at the official website here: www.akiofootwear.com, but AKIO FOOTWEAR will be presenting their debut range at CREPE CITY this coming weekend. We’ll see you there!
