For those who aren’t in the know, Kendo is a Japanese form of fencing with two-handed bamboo swords, originally developed as a safe form of sword training for samurai. On the underside of the tongue you’ll find a stylised graphic representing a Kendo martial art fighter’s mask and headdress. Aside from the inspiration, the shoes take on a very similar style to certain other all-red trainers, with a red mesh base overlaid by matching suede panels and a textured plastic heel panel. Down below, the sole unit is finished in a matching red, which also continues onto the logos, laces and lining. The large tongue can be removed for a more streamlined look, if that’s more your thing…
