Join us, as we take you through our Best Nike Sneaker Releases of 2023.
As 2023 draws to a natural close, it’s a great time to reflect on the undeniably cold sneaker releases dropped by none other than the Swoosh. It goes without saying that this year has been one for the books, from sell-out collaborations like the Tiffany Air Force 1 to the return of some retro icons. Not to mention the influx of new Air Max 1’s and Dunks. In this round-up, we’ll be listing our Top Drop of 2023, Close Second and Special Mention Nike sneakers (not including SB and Jordan), so continue reading to see what we decided on…
This year, we saw a lotttttttttttt of sick collabs across the board, but there was one that really took the top spot for us here at The Drop Date. Being a London-based brand ourselves, you already know that we had to give the Corteiz x Nike Air Max 95 its flowers. From the clean silhouette to the incredible campaign video, the collaboration captured everything that we love about London’s homegrown creatives, a genuine W for everyone who has witnessed the journey of Clint’s Corteiz.
Since the streetwear label launched in 2017, we’ve seen a shift in the way that audiences interact with brands, re-igniting the ‘cult following’ dynamic through clever guerilla marketing. The brand has since been spotted on names like Stormzy and Central Cee, dominating the fashion scene with its ‘Alcotraz’ logo and distinctive edge. Corteiz rules the world!
Ranking as a close second, it has to be the Air Max 1 ‘86 Big Bubble. Launched in celebration of Air Max Day 2023, this release is (debatably) regarded as the most accurate iteration of the Tinker Hatfield OG! Taken straight from the depths of the Swoosh’s vault; the shoe presents retro steez in the shape of an elongated Air unit. You can’t deny that this one is a hit! Not only did the kicks deliver in terms of silhouette and construction, but simultaneously created a space of mutual-agreement whereby old school AND new school sneaker connoisseurs could live in harmony. And what’s not to love about that!?
We can’t name the Best Nike Sneakers Releases of 2023 without giving the Tiffany Air Force 1 a special mention. Forming probably the most unexpected collaborative alliance from Nike thus far, the elegant flair of the luxury jeweller floods every detail. From the co-branded, laser-etched silver plates to the premium black suede, the Air Force 1 has never looked so classy, and it wears it well! Selling out instantaneously, the collab has racked up quite the demand, with the Friends and Family counterpart selling for an astounding £10k. Whether this is the first and last time we’ll see the duo link up, or if another offering is on the cards in the future, the Tiffany & Co. Air Force 1 has a deserving spot in the Nike hall of fame.
…And that concludes our top selections for an incredible year of Nike sneaker releases. Will the Swoosh smash it once again in 2024? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. Stay locked to our socials @thedropdate for the latest news & updates.
