Billie Eilish x Nike Air Alpha Force 88 Pays Homage to Basketball Heritage
The Grammy award winning artist reignites her sought-after partnership with Nike to bring us the Billie Eilish x Nike Air Alpha Force 88.
Despite arriving as a fresh iteration of the Nike Air Alpha Force 88, the model gives plenty of reference to the OG basketball heritage. The collaborative endeavour preserves the leather structure of the upper alongside the ribbed collar, retro-strap and low-top design. So don’t fret sneakerheads, although this is indeed a partnership with Billie Eilish, the essence of the Air Alpha Force 88 is far from lost.
This is the 5th collaboration between the American singer-songwriter and Swoosh powerhouse. The pair’s first rodeo took place in 2019, with a ‘Ghost Green’ release of the Air Jordan 1 KO. The global star then went on to tackle the likes of the Nike Air Force 1, both high and low. Met to significant approval from fans, streetwear enthusiasts and even sneaker collectors, the Air Alpha Force 88 isn’t likely to be the last we’ll see of the dynamic alliance.
Paying tribute to the OG Nike models worn by Michael Jordan in 1988, the silhouette visually references a Chicago-coded palette. Although the sneaker stays loyal to its heritage-rich roots, a co-branded insole boasts the duo’s collaborative efforts. As well as the red, white and black assortment, the model will also arrive in a monochrome palette. Ideal for those who prefer to flaunt a more versatile look, the second colourway sports a vintage steeze alongside black and white panelling.
