Hold onto your wallets, the SLAMMIN KICKS AUCTION is coming to town this weekend…
Originally founded in 2002 by a good friend of TDD and footwear obsessive Magdi Fernandes, Slammin Kicks was Central London’s hub for sneakers for most of the ‘00s before closing its doors later in the decade.
The store will make an all guns blazing return this weekend, but maybe not as some of you know it. Aiming to cut through the elitism that runs alongside harbouring an impressive collection, Magdi will host a public sneaker auction in Shoreditch, East London, which may well be the very first of its kind globally…
The first auction, taking place on Saturday 22st July, will consist of over 200 sought after pairs, including contributions from Nike, Supreme, The Drop Date, and Patta – plus a bevy of deadstock vintage, unreleased samples, and a expertly selected assortment of general release products no longer available in stores, with all proceeds going to the Grenfell Tower victims. With the bidders in absolute control here, we could have some absolute steals and absolute financial catastrophes on our hands, so make your way down this Saturday to find out just how much so…
And hoarders and resellers alike will be pleased to know that after the first event, Magdi will open up the auction to the sneaker community, offering the prime opportunity to clear cupboards and get some extra cash in before winter hibernation hits.
In advance of the event this Saturday, we swung by the Slammin Kicks venue in Shoreditch to preview the shoes that will be going under the hammer this weekend. Word has it that Dizzee Rascal himself dropped off a pair of his super rare Nike Air Max 180 Dirtee Stank off especially for the auction, so if you like the sound of that, make sure you register before the 8pm cut-off tomorrow…
The SLAMMIN KICKS AUCTION viewing and registration days take place on THURSDAY 20 JULY and FRIDAY 21 JULY between 12-8PM, with the big event taking place on SATURDAY 22 JULY from 1PM at 4 Holywell Lane, Shoreditch, EC2A 3ET. For updates and additional information, keep an eye on our site and socials, and check out the Slammin Kicks website.
