The END. x CLARKS ORIGINALS TRIGENIC FLEX ‘MAPLE’ marks the second collaboration between the legendary retailer and one of the world’s most famous shoemakers, Clarks Originals. We took a pair out into the wild terrain of East London and put them through their paces – with outstanding results.
The Trigenic Flex has found fans in a relatively short time since its release, updating the aesthetic that has defined Clarks Originals’ illustrious past and the progressive nature of their present day designs. Maple wood has become widely regarded as a key element in END.’s palette, featuring prominently throughout the sleek, minimalist design of both flagship boutiques. Selected for its understated beauty and impressive durability, the wood’s neutral colouration works perfectly in this application.
The Trigenic Flex’s upper is constructed from a grain leather of the highest quality, with a supple and durable nature that allows the foot to move and flex with ease. The lower section of the shoe utilises a soft suede that contrasts against the leather, reflecting the grain of maple wood. Both materials – sourced from the famed Steads Tannery in Leeds – embody both the quality and stability that maple wood has been known for throughout its continued use in design and construction. Vegetable tanned leather used on the heel pull and lining provide highlights to the clean, crisp styling of the upper, whilst hand-stitched moccasin detailing infuses a sense of time-honoured craft into the shoe’s contemporary outlook.
