After what has felt like a lifetime of anticipation, the Yuto Horigome x Nike Dunk Low SB Grey is nearly in reach. Landing next Tuesday, we predict that the Olympic skateboarder’s iteration of the classic Dunk Low SB will be a hit with streetwear connoisseurs and the skaters alike. Is this suprising? Not at all. This sleek and effortlessly on-point iteration speaks for itself, almost as cool as the gold medalist himself. The shoe follows other popular Dunk Low SB collabs this year, such as Run The Jewels and Jarritos. 

Born and bred in a neighbourhood in Tokyo, Yuto Horigome is known as one of the greatest professional skaters of his generation. After watching his fathers passion for skating from the ripe age of 6, he took it upon himself to learn the sport. 16 years later, Horigome scored the first-ever Olympic gold medal for skateboarding in the same town he grew up in. Talk about a legacy! The greatness doesn’t stop there though. Horigome also sweeped up at the X Games, winning his fifth gold medal last month. So, it’s safe to say that these Dunk Low SB’s are a true descent from greatness.

Taking on a seamlessly muted palette of blues, browns and whites, the iteration maintains a white leather base. A buttery-soft brown suede graces the heel in conjunction with the outsole, complimenting the blue-ish grey leather overlays. Following in the theme of a neutral colouring, a cement grey Swoosh grounds the sneaker, differentiating the other shades. Setting this shoe apart from the average Dunk Low SB is Horigome’s cross-feather emblem, sitting proudly on each sidewall.

Paying homage to the national flower of Japan (the cherry blossom), pops of pale pink adorn various accents. As well as the heel, the insole depicts a flurry of blossom petals, also adopting the pink hue. If you’re intending to wear these kicks for skating (as opposed to taking steezy pictures for insta), you’ll be pleased to know that the midsole arrives with cushioning technology.
