Having already left their mark with adidas, two visionary designers are now turning their focus to another iconic silhouette in 2025: the Jabbar. We’re talking about Willy Chavarria—fresh off his Paris Fashion Week debut last month—and British designer Wales Bonner, who is also putting her own spin on this classic sneaker.
In 2025, both Chavarria and Bonner will unveil their individual interpretations of the adidas Jabbar. Bonner had already established an ongoing partnership with adidas, while Chavarria launched his first collaboration in early 2025. Two designers, two unique aesthetics- offering something for everyone.
Why this model exactly? Originally released in 1978, the adidas Jabbar was the brand’s first sneaker collaboration with a basketball player, none other than Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. The design boasts a sleek silhouette with minimalist details. Now, 47 years later, the Jabbar returns as a lifestyle sneaker. Following several general releases, it is now set to receive these fresh collaborations.
The Willy Chavarria x adidas Jabbar showcases a leather upper with black as the base, complemented by standout red accents- a signature touch of Chavarria’s design language.
The Wales Bonner x adidas Jabbar features a bold fuchsia suede upper, accented with contrasting orange and purple details for a striking visual appeal.
Both iterations also feature a modified toe cap, reminiscent of the classic adidas Superstar shell toe.
While an official release date has yet to be confirmed, both collaborations are expected to drop in 2025. Keep an eye on the Drop Date news page for the latest updates…
