Last week marked the launch of the TRAPSTAR X PUMA AW16 COLLECTION, which sees the homegrown West London favourites team up for a second time with the global sportswear brand. And our new resident events coverage team, NEVERNOTOUT, went along to document what went down.
The collection itself is made up of four t-shirts, two crew neck sweatshirts, a pair of sweat pants, one full-zip hooded track top, one half-zip jacket, a pair of Disc Blaze trainers, and a trio of iconic heritage sneakers – two luscious Suedes and one super clean Basket.
To give us a deeper insight into the ideas and stories that helped forge this collection, we attended a private Q&A with the founders of Trapstar and the Global Head of Lifestyle and Select at Puma, Yassine Saidi. It’s been a long road for Trapstar and Puma, meeting up through mutual connections almost 5 years ago. Fast forward to the end of 2015, when the two came together for the first time, dropping a very seductive but completely wearable blacked-out Disc Blaze and matching goalkeeper jersey.
That was merely a teaser however, and this second collaboration marks the point where finally both Trapstar and Puma were happy to launch a proper collaborative collection, not just an SMU of an old silhouette. This entire collection has been born amid an underground subculture, transcending their initial collab with a complete product selection and a single utilitarian thread stitching it all together.
After the Q&A it was party time, with DJs holding it down until the live PAs from the cream of grime and hip hop, including US rapper Shy Glizzy all the way from Washington D.C. Thanks to Puma and Trapstar for the evening’s entertainment. Enjoy the rest of the pics from this wavey night below, and shop the whole TRAPSTAR X PUMA AW16 COLLECTION by clicking on the banner…
