The notwoways Model 1 Mokka is Piping Hot
East London sneaker label notwoways is back with an autumnal update to its Model 1 silhouette. Introducing the Model 1 Mokka.
As we all know, coffee makes pretty much everything better. Unsurprisingly, this is also the case for notwoways’ new offering. Drawing inspiration from a coffee-spillage-turned-epiphany, the brand’s latest endeavour pays homage to none other than the warm delicacy that is a Mocha coffee. Expressing a plethora of tonal brown hues that dance across the upper, we only have founders Callum McGinley and Rockwell Princley to thank for the accident that became genius. Big-ups to Callum’s Model 1 ‘Syzgy’ kicks that took one for the team when getting drenched in coffee. Gone but never forgotten.
Keeping things circular, the silhouette utilises nylon mesh composed of recycled fishing nets. Also contributing to the label’s eco-friendly ethos, the nylon midsole is also crafted from recycled plastic bottle caps, for a flair that looks good, and does good. The dark breathable mesh acts as the perfect canvas for off-white leather panelling, unified with brown suede overlays that tie everything together. The coffee-coded offering is rounded off with tonal rope laces for a subtle trail-touch, concluding this beautifully dynamic, limited release iteration.
The release lands alongside coffee-themed packaging, which subtly nods to the iconic story of how this sneaker came to be. If that wasn’t enough, the Mocha beverage is also honoured with the addition of a custom metal stencil. Your morning coffee will never be the same again… there’s notwoways about it!
