After a preview in June, the J Balvin x Air Jordan 3 Medellín Sunset is up next, painting a picture of euphoric Colombian skies.
The dynamic partnership between the global singer J Balvin and Jumpman enterprise began back in 2020, with the release of the Air Jordan 1 High OG ‘Colores Y Vibras’. Kicking off their collaborative endeavours with a sneaker that resembled a tie-dye rainbow, it was clear from the start that the Colombian star wasn’t fussed about playing by the rules. And why would he? Carrying the title of the first Latino artist ever to partner with Jumpman, it’s no surprise that breaking the norm is a reccuring factor within each iteration. The colourful AJ1’s sold out on release day – a pretty big flex as far as collaborative sneakers go.
With the first iteration setting the bar high, then came the Air Jordan 2 Retro and Jordan Super Play Slide. Just like their rainbow-hued predecessor, the baby blue AJ2 sold out within hours – sitting the tone for the duo’s next endeavour. After months of speculation, we now have a clear sight of the ‘Medellín Sunset’ palette that is taking over the Air Jordan 3. In true J Balvin style, the kicks are far from basic. Displaying influence directly from the artist’s hometown, this cool model feels authentic to the partnership’s vision. If the reaction to the previous sneakers are anything to go by, then we’d be preparing to cop from now!
Boasting a predominantly beige exterior, this AJ3 iteration draws inspiration from a personal angle. The tonal rear references the sunsets in the artist’s hometown of Medellín, Colombia. Expressed in a spectrum of purple, orange and yellow hues, this eye-catching element brings personality to the kicks – not uncommon with J Balvin x AJ. If the gradience wasn’t enough to deliver striking flair, then the heel branding definitely does. Wrapping up the kicks are the singer’s signature smiley face and Nike emblem adorned on the right and left heel. It’s safe to say that the duo have smashed it once again.
The J Balvin x Air Jordan 3 Medellín Sunset, has officially sold out on its release day (what a shocker – not!). However, it is still available to buy right here, via StockX. Stay locked to our socials @thedropdate for the latest sneaker updates.
