Making a not-so-unexpected reappearance on the scene of hot sneaker collabs – Stüssy x Nike returns with a textural reimagination of the classic Vandal model.
It’s no secret that Stüssy have been dominating the streetwear game since their first drop in 1984, offering authentically unique graphic designs and a confident coolness that other streetwear brands try their whole careers to come close to. Sneaker fans are no strangers to the brand’s alliance with Nike, from pearl embellished Converse to Air Penny 2s.
This time round, the dynamic pairing tackle a long lost ‘80s basketball sneaker – better known as the Nike Vandal. Despite the significant absence of the shoe since its debut, the Vandal has endured a scattering of appearances with various colourway updates and amendments. However, thanks to this collaboration you can expect a progressive rebirth of the Vandal that is certain to basket success.
Drawing similarities between the Stüssy x Nike Air Force 1s (2021), the first look of the Vandal flaunts a deep navy, hemp exterior alongside black accents (including the laces, strap and woven swoosh). The canvas texture adds an understated dimension to the sneaker, juxtaposed by a clean white midsole. Of course, it wouldn’t be Stüssy without the iconic 8-ball branding, which sits proudly on both tongues of the shoe.
