The release of the NIKE AIR ZOOM SPIRIDON marks the long-awaited return of this classic running model from the Nike archives.
Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you’ve probably already realised that this long-lost (but sorely missed) 1997 runner is making its way back to our feet again for 2016. The last retro of the Spiridon dropped way back in 2005, when Nike gave it a low-key re-release under the creative guidance of several top tier ambassadors such as Acronym’s Errolson Hugh, graffiti legend Stash and Berlin’s gifted BEINGHUNTED. crew. The re-release launched at Nort 235 – Stash’s spectacular sneaker spot, which is now sadly confined to the history books – and the shoe quietly came and went without much attention from the mainstream crowd. That’s all set to change in 2016 with this new retro, as the hype has quietly been building in the background since the start of the year. Now we can reveal that the Spiridon is due to return this summer and will be available at a selection of our favourite stockists.
The Spiridon was one of the first Nike models to incorporate the Air Zoom technology, which brings the foot closer to the ground, intended to enhance running performance and providing ultimate cushioning. Over the years, there have been several special editions and exclusive colourways (the unreleased Opium colourways remain a pinnacle piece for many collectors), which has cultivated a core interest in this often-overlooked shoe. We’re big fans of the Spiridon here and we’re very much looking forward to its return.
The NIKE AIR ZOOM SPIRIDON is due for release shortly, so make sure to keep checking back with us for updates. Keep an eye on the Spiridon release page via the banner below for the latest confirmed information.
