NIKE and MO’ WAX have had a rich relationship for a long time through affiliated people and projects, the first of which was the NIKE SB DUNK HI DUNKLE back in 2004. This time, James Lavelle, co-founder of Mo’ Wax, has worked with Nike on a new project with a BUILD AND DESTROY tenet.
Tuesday night saw the launch party and collection preview for this new collaboration at NikeLab 1948 in Shoreditch. With James involved it was no surprise that the event was accompanied by some great tunes being played by Nightwave, We Are Shining and rounded off by the man himself. With the Red Stripe flowing there was a great buzz among the attendees and it was good to see some less familiar faces showing their appreciation for the collaboration and the event that had been put on.
The new collection features two versions of the NIKE BLAZER HI: one in olive and one in black, with beautifully detailed uppers, set off by an orange lining and all sat atop crisp white midsoles. To accompany the trainers there is an impressive collection of apparel: the stand out pieces are the two Destroyer jackets, which feature lots of nice little touches as you’d expect in a premium collaboration such as this. The jackets come in two different colourways; all-black and olive and black to match the Blazers. T-shirts are a staple of any wardrobe and this collection has two to choose from, one in white and one in black both of which feature the moniker ‘Our past is your future’ in reverse, handwritten by Gio Estevez (one of the original Supreme NYC heads and a longtime friend of James). The collection is topped off with a pair of snapback caps to finish off the look, which are available in olive or black.
We had a great time and our thanks go to everyone involved in organising and running the event. Check out the collection and click the banner below to see all the UK & EU stockists.
