Nike’s SNKRS Day is fast approaching, and sneaker connoisseurs all over the world are buzzing to indulge in an event dedicated to uniting the culture. With this yearly celebration comes a fiery hot line up of SNKRS Day releases that will, without a doubt, spice up your rotation for the latter half of the year and beyond. In this round-up we’ll give you the juicy details of all SNKRS Day releases 2023, so you’re ready to secure the bag.
There’s no denying that Nike is having a major moment with woven textile detailing within their silhouettes. Just take a glance at recent collaborations like Union LA x BBS x AJ1, or the sacai x Waffle Woven. Nike certainly aren’t slowing down with this intertwined element anytime soon, with the awaited reissue of the Nike Air Footscape Woven arriving as part of the SNKRS Day releases 2023. This Nike Air Footscape ‘Cow Print’ model is the definition of lairy, and to be honest, we’re here for it. What screams out there more than cow print? Exhibiting various layers of beige and brown patterned faux fur, this iteration reminds us of the sheer versatility that the Swoosh powerhouse possesses.
A cream woven, asymmetrical pattern sweeps around the body of silhouette, referencing back to the sneakers ‘90s heritage. Created in 1996 by designer Tory Orzeck, the Air Footscape was born in a time of sheer experimentation. Nike were fully open to the many possibilities that creative exploration could bring – manifested in the likes of the Air Max 97 and Air Huarache. With the model increasing in collaborative endeavours and popularity, 2023 might just be the year of the Air Footscape’s revival.
Sporting a look that’s not as crazy as the Air Footscape (but confident nevertheless), the Nike Air Jordan 1 Low ‘Sashiko’ is the next iteration to join the SNKRS Day clan. Remember the scrapbooks that you’d make in school? Think that – but refined, stylised, shaken up and spat out to produce this clean iteration. Featuring denim panelling throughout the toebox, heel, forefoot and tongue, the sneaker draws inspiration from Japanese craftsmanship. Contrasted by a Pale-Ivory canvas base, the denim panels arrive adorned with white stitching, directing our attention to black accents within the Swoosh and outsole.
It’s not surprising that the Nike Air Jordan 1 has earned a spot in Nike’s SNKRS Day releases 2023 – especially after the year it’s had. Collaborations with Travis Scott and Union LA x BBS have got the people talking – not to mention revival releases like the ‘Black Toe’. The intricacy of the ‘Sashiko’ stitching makes this beautifully authentic sneaker one of the books.
Straight from the creative minds of North Korea, the Nike Air Max 1 ‘86 World Make flaunts a ridiculously sleek, sophisticated and streamlined demeanour. Composed of eco-friendly material, this sneaker delivers a durable woven build whilst communicating soft, effortless style. Just by looking at the palette, we predict that both sneaker enthusiasts and streetwear lovers will be eating this AM1 right up. The upper is predominantly composed of hemp textile overlays, flaunting creamy off-white hues. Black contrast-stitching accents outline each sector, as well as the outsole, eyelets and insole lining.
If the attention to detail wasn’t enough to sway your brain towards this classy iteration, just take a closer look. Alongside ‘WM’ stitched branding, each cork-graphic insole features the phrase “Designed for sport. Crafted for life. World Make.”
If that doesn’t sum up the AM1 ‘86 World Make, we don’t know what will!
The Nike Air Max Plus silhouette goes down a treat with old school and new school sneakerheads every single time. So, the decision from Nike to drop the Nike Air Max Plus Pure Platinum as part of SNKRS Day 2023 is not a surprising one. The silhouette follows standard TN procedure with a contemporary utilitarian vibe, this time dressed in a frosty white mesh base and cream suede overlay. A metallic silver swoosh on the lateral and medial side walls keeps it ice cold, as a slight contrast in colours develops the dynamic.
Originally designed by Sean McDowel back in ‘98, the Air Max Plus Pure Platinum is regarded as a consistent Swoosh favourite. In celebration of the silhouettes 25th anniversary, 2023 has caught a glimpse of a sought-after collaboration with A-COLD-WALL, in addition to special editions such as the ‘Marseille’ and ‘F.C Barcelona’.
Arriving in a polished, nostalgic palette of off-white and rich navy, the Nike Dunk Low Vintage Navy joins the SNKRS Day roster. Following the foolproof code to Dunk success (aka clean colour blocking), the sneaker incorporates a yellowed midsole and laces to achieve an aged, vintage appearance. Almost as if you’d rediscovered the kicks in a box tucked away in the loft. First debuted towards the beginning of the year, this retro iteration borrows inspo from its popular older cousin, the Dunk Low Panda. Composed of a fully-leather build, this model is literally impossible to dislike.
As the OG silhouette’s birthday takes place next year in 2024, we’re expecting that Nike have more than a few things up their sleeve. The reissuing of top-seller colourways such as ‘Plum’ and ‘Brazil’ are on the horizon, so if that’s anything to go by, you’re definitely in luck.
I don’t know about you, but after a look at that line-up, we’re pretty excited. If there’s one thing we can expect from Nike’s SNKRS Day releases 2023, it’s the unexpected! Going by Nike’s movements from previous years, we know for sure that surprises are imminent.
