The NIKE CLASSICS PACK brings the “Be Bop, Don’t Stop” to mark half a century since the leading music genre’s inception. Born into the tough streets of the Bronx in the late ‘70s, it’s hard to believe that hip hop hasn’t always just been there. Pioneered by the borough’s African American community experimenting with breakbeats and sampling, the musical style has evolved massively over its 50-year lifespan, but whether it’s Grandmaster Flash or Kendrick Lamar you’re digging, hip hop is united under one groove.
Nike footwear has been at the forefront of the scene since its humble beginnings with several of its basketball silhouettes taking up a fair share of airtime. This forthcoming drop from the model plays homage to the sound with an Air Force 1 Low and High plus a Dunk High featuring gradient Swooshes and an aged effect outsole that gives a feel of throwback ‘80s drops. Custom “50 Years of Hip Hop” graphics appear on the tongue tab with a removable gold microphone clipped onto the laces.
