Nike answer our reissue prayers with the return of an ’80s innovator, the NIKE AIR SOCK RACER OG QS.
Originally released over three decades ago, the stripped-back Sock Racer was light years ahead of other silhouettes on the shelves during its heyday. Designed by Tinker Hatfield in 1985, it was Nike’s first foray into a streamlined and minimal running shoe design, which helped throw open the doors to today’s readily available lightweight models.
Truly pioneering and equally timeless, the model replaces traditional lacing with a two buckle fastening to mimic the look, feel, and convenience of a sock. Further complemented by a flexible outsole and stretchy nylon polyester upper, the re-envisioned Air Sock Racer still looks as inventive as it did on initial release, with a simple yet commanding black and yellow colourway that harks back to its original ‘80s palette. In a nutshell, the sneaker community’s call for a re-issue on this highly favoured archive model have finally been answered. Stay alert for the early morning drop!
The NIKE AIR SOCK RACER OG QS will be available this SATURDAY 11 MARCH at 08:00 GMT. If this is a bit of you, click on the release page banners below to find out where you can grab a piece of celebrated sneaker history.
