Our clear favourite of the recently-released Sneakerboot range is the NIKE AIR MAX 90 SNEAKERBOOT. Nike have cleverly managed to take the best elements of a winter shoe but maintain a sleek shape that is more running shoe than hiking boot. As we’ve mentioned elsewhere previously, the colourways we’ve spotted so far are among the best we’ve seen on any winter shoe since the impossible-to-find Air Takao series back in 2011.

So, what’s the shoe like in the flesh? The honest answer is that it’s even better than it looks in the photos. The sleek shape is spot-on and is a refreshing approach to winter remixing of classic shoes. If you’re tired of the bulky hiking footwear that seems to find its way into every brand’s winter line-up, then these are the perfect solution. Some of you might remember the previous attempt to bring the Air Max 90 into a mid-top – the Air Max 90 Boot – but we think it works much better in the Hyperfuse rendition seen here. Engineered mesh and neoprene adds a whole new world of lightness and comfort to the winter shoe category.

The other undeniable element is that whoever picked the colourways for the Sneakerboots did a cracking job! All tastes are catered for, from the ACG-esque muted tones of the Newsprint/Black/Gold scheme through to the more lively running style of the Gridiron/Black/Pink Force/Volt option. We’ve seen a few hints of other colourways to come and they’re all going on our ‘wanted’ list this season.

Chalk the NIKE AIR MAX 90 SNEAKERBOOT up as a winter winner, and check out the full range via the link-through below.
