Nike welcomes the Nike Air Max 1 Keep Rippin Stop Slippin 2.0 – straight outta the vault from the ’08 ‘Greatest Hits’ capsule.
The Swoosh powerhouse has been keeping something up its sleeve. Although we’ve come to learn that Nike likes to resurrect nostalgic models every now and then. But we must say, even we didn’t see this one coming! Reintroducing the Nike Air Max 1 Keep Rippin Stop Slippin. Originally released as part of the ‘Greatest Hits’ capsule alongside the Air Max 90 and Air Stab, this 2023 revival is definitely one of the old-school sneaker connoisseurs.
Differing significantly from the OG exterior, this 2.0 offering keeps things a little more refined. The ‘08 sneaker boasts a lairy persona, paying homage to the original ‘87 Nike Air Safari – the first sneaker to feature the patterned patent leather. Utilising a ‘Vast Grey’ mesh base as a canvas, ‘Pearl White’ leather panelling injects a refreshing premium edge. The stand out component of these kicks has to be the ‘Black’ textured suede. Flooding the mudguard and Swoosh, the velcro-resembling finish keeps things beautifully dynamic. Fiery ‘Cedar Red’ hits illuminate the inner lining, branding and tongue tag – a nod to the striking hues of the OG.
Looking towards the lower, these nostalgic AM1’s feature the Air-infused midsole that we all know and love, providing unparalleled comfort wherever you decide to rock the heat. Rounding off the silhouette with “KEEP RIP’N” and “STOP SLIP’N” embroidered into the each heel, it goes without saying that this re-release is one for the books.
Landing as the first sneaker to return from the ‘08 ‘Greatest Hits’ collection, sneaker enthusiasts are now wondering what may follow. Does the Keep Rippin Stop Slippin 2.0 mark the start of a complete revival? Are we about to see part 2 of the featured Air Max 90 and Air Stab? Whilst we cannot confirm or deny any rumours at this point in time, by staying locked to our socials @thedropdate, you’ll know as soon as we do!
