The LOST ART X NIKE SB collaboration has to be one of the best meeting of minds that we’ve seen in recent years. The heritage and validity of both partners involved is unquestionable – and the resulting shoes (the NIKE SB X LOST ART BRUIN and the NIKE SB X LOST ART BA) speak for themselves!
If you don’t know about Lost Art, then it’s time for a quick lesson. The founder and owner, Dave Mackey, is a respected skater and all-round good guy and his skate shop has served the north of England and beyond since he opened the doors in 1999. As chain stores have taken over the high streets, it’s up to skater-owned independents, such as Lost Art, to keep things in check. As well as a great shop, Lost Art also have one of the best skate teams out there: Geoff Rowley, Tom Knox, Ben Raemers, Mark Baines, Chewy Cannon, Chris Jones and many others have found their way onto the Worldwide Fam roster over the years. For Nike SB to align themselves with a retailer and brand of this calibre is an inspired decision.
There are two shoes here in the set: a NIKE SB X LOST ART BRUIN and a NIKE SB X LOST ART BA. Two wildly differing styles, but two of the nicest Nike skate shoes out there at the moment. As a celebration of Liverpool City, the design cues used across both models are taken from the famous Liverpool Docklands and the now-defunct Liverpool Overhead Railway (LOR) that used to run alongside the waterways. Traditionalists might opt for the low cut SB Bruin, with its black pigskin and gold and red woollen swooshes on the sides. For those looking for something a little more tech, the BA (Brian Anderson’s pro model, in case you were wondering) is an eyecatching affair, inspired by the water, brickwork and concrete that have been the lifeblood of the city. Speckling, tight branding and custom insoles add premium finishes to a top tier set of skate shoes. We’re impressed.
The NIKE SB X LOST ART BRUIN and the NIKE SB X LOST ART BA drop this SATURDAY 14 MARCH exclusively at LOST ART, both online and in-store. A global release follows on the SATURDAY 21 MARCH: check back with us shortly for the full stockist list.
