Amsterdam-based designer Daniëlle Cathari is set to make waves with her distinctive touch on the iconic New Balance 991v2. Known for her edgy designs and collabs with Clarks and adidas, the Dutch creative is switching gears and dropping a killer 991v2 colourway in February 2024 – and it’s all about the matcha vibes!
Usually, the 991v2 is all about those safe colours, but Cathari’s flipping the script. The suede upper takes on a lush mossy green tone, complemented by dark brown mesh for an earthy contrast. Cathari’s Instagram carousel details the design process, revealing that the colour scheme draws inspo from matcha-dusted chocolate sweets. Exclusive details include custom branded tongue labels and a specially crafted heel logo.
