The CONVERSE x SLAM JAM x CALI THORNHILL DEWITT CTAS 1970s HIKER forms part of a capsule collection that introduces us to Converse’s new Urban Utility range.
This impressive 17-piece collection, entitled ‘Your Silence Gets You Nothing’, consists of apparel and footwear, highlighted by the incredible Utility Jacket and the CTAS 1970’S Hiker, both of which utilise waterproof, breathable GORE-TEX® fabric. Cali Thornhill Dewitt’s graphics, formed of his notorious all-caps punk-style lettering and translated into English, Farsi, Italian, Korean, French, Russian and Hebrew, deliver a powerful message. As we transition into winter, this range should prove functional and practical but the styling and design of the pieces are just as impressive. You can read more about the apparel collection here shortly, but we’re going to focus on the shoes here. The CTAS Hiker takes the original Chuck Taylor All Star and reconstructs it as an all-weather hiking shoe. With canvas and synthetic Gore-Tex® uppers and metal eyelets, it features additional details (such as the pull tab on the heel and extra laces) that punctuate the design in strong style. Presented in a duo of colourways – Capulet Olive or Black – this is one Converse Chuck that’s built to handle the elements.
