The CONVERSE X FENG CHEN WANG JACK PURCELL sees the Chinese designer transform the badminton model with traditional basket weaving techniques…
Chinese-born, London-based designer Feng Chen Wang returns to Converse this August and it’s the Jack Purcell at the centre of her attentions. First introduced as a badminton sneaker in 1935, the Jack Purcell is most commonly known for its trademark ‘smile’ on its toe cap. Wang has reworked the mid-cut Jack Purcell with a focus on traditional Chinese basket weaving techniques, which revises the dimension and volume of the silhouette’s upper, altering the Jack Purcell’s traditionally slim profile. The shoe will also be accompanied by a jacket, vest, shorts, pant, short sleeve tee.
