As we approach the end of 2023, it’s a great moment to reflect on the undoubtedly stylish sneaker releases brought to us by adidas throughout the year. Certainly, this year has been remarkable for the adidas Samba and Campus 00s. Furthermore, it witnessed ongoing collaborations with some of the most prominent names in the fashion industry and beyond. In this round-up, we’ll be listing our Top Drop of 2023, Close Second and Special Mention adidas sneakers, so continue reading to see what we decided on…
Starting with our Top Drop, or rather Drops, we must highlight the incredible colorways of the Wales Bonner x adidas collaboration. Founded in 2014 by Grace Walles Bonner, the British brand strives to blend in African-American culture with European luxurious designs. This endeavor has undeniably achieved success, exemplified by colorways such as the ‘Silver’, ‘Dark Brown’ and ‘Cream White’.
The former one features a gleaming silver upper, while the subsequent two feature premium horsehair. Each trainer is equipped with an enlarged tongue, featuring the logos of both brands. The Wales Bonner emblem reappears on the heel, and the adidas Three Stripes, of course, on the center panel.
adidas and Bad Bunny continued their immensely successful collaboration in 2023 on the Campus model. Bad Bunny initially teased this adidas Campus sneaker in his El Apagón music video.
The official release lived up to expectations, featuring a cream and cloud white color scheme. This trainer incorporates a longer suede material and showcases a stacked heel tab and tongue adorned with iconic Bad Bunny logos.
The collaboration between Gucci and adidas stands out as one of the German sportswear brand’s most successful ventures into high fashion. Introduced in 2022, the Gucci x adidas collection made a return in 2023, unveiling a range of new sneakers that paid homage to the rich histories of both iconic labels.
A highlight of this capsule is the return of the iconic Gucci x adidas Gazelle, seamlessly merging adidas’ Three Stripes with the GG monogram. In addition to the GG canvas-covered style, it incorporates the colors of the Italian flag.
… And with that, we wrap up our top picks for an amazing year of adidas sneaker releases. Will the Three Stripes continue their success in 2024? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. Stay locked to our socials @thedropdate for the latest news & updates!
