It’s a great time to be a Jordan Retro enthusiast, with the exciting return of the Air Jordan 1 High ‘Shattered Backboard’. Making its last appearance in 2015, and widely recognised as one of the most popular colourways from the 1 lineage, it’s about time that this banger received a re-up.
As per usual, we only have our sneaker leakers to thank for this nostalgic re-entry. According to Sole Savy, the shoe’s return falls in line with its 10th anniversary, whilst also nodding to four decades of the Air Jordan 1. Said to be returning with the exact same steez and construction as its 2015 rerelease, Jumpman are keeping this authentic in comparison to the ‘Shattered Backboard’ iterations that we’ve seen previously over the years.
Despite its prevalence in the contemporary sneaker scene, the esteemed colourway goes allll the way back to 1985. Designed in homage to the moment that Michael Jordan literally shattered a backboard whilst dunking during a game in Italy, the palette nods directly to the uniform he was wearing at the time. Encapsulating the memory within a graphic insole – we can only hope that this iconic touch will be featured in the latest offering.
At the time of writing, no official imagery has been released for the 2025 Air Jordan 1 High ‘Shattered Backboard’. However, if the last release is anything to go by, we can expect a sleek mix of clean colour blocking and premium textiles.
