The Three Stripes has confirmed that the rumor of a new Samba drop was true, announcing the ADIDAS SPEZIAL SAMBA, which will be released in early November.
adidas has continued to rummage around in its extensive archives for inspiration, this time to reimagine yet another of its iconic shoes, as part of the brand’s AW16 collection. The new release of the old standby comes in two colourways: a familiar looking black and white, as well as a second version that is black and white but with attention-grabbing yellow stripes. Both colourways look like instant new classics. adidas’ Gary Aspden has been a busy man (which we’re very glad of), once again delivering a fitting homage to a timeless classic. You could be forgiven for thinking the Samba couldn’t be improved but looking at this simple yet stylish new iteration, we’re happy to be proven wrong. In case you weren’t already aware of the legend himself, Aspden, a longtime adidas employee, is also the ultimate fanboy, resurrecting many of the classics with a connoisseur’s and devotee’s eye for detail. We tend use the word ‘classic’ a lot when talking about old school silhouettes, but the Samba is truly is worthy of the title. It is the oldest adidas shoe in continuous production, making its debut all the way back in 1950. It’s estimated that a monster 35 million pairs have been sold in the 66 years since. Only the Stan Smith has sold more.
Will you make it 35,000,001? The ADIDAS SPEZIAL SAMBA will be available from THURSDAY 3 NOVEMBER. In the meantime, you can shop the Spezial footwear collection at END. via the banner below.
