The ADIDAS ORIGINALS LGBT PRIDE PACK pays homage to the 50th Anniversary of Gay Pride events.
Back in 1965, gay rights activists gathered outside Independence Hall in Philadelphia for the first ever LGBT picket and during the same time period, ADIDAS released a tennis shoe called the Robert Haillet. That tennis shoe would later become known as the STAN SMITH and as it released in the same year as the first Gay Pride event, it seemed like the obvious choice for the first shoe to celebrate the 50th Anniversary. With a white leather upper and green heel panel the shoe takes on quite a traditional look, but with the addition of the rainbow-coloured paint dripping from the perforated three stripes and colour-matched laces letting you know what the shoe is all about.
The second pair from the pack is a SUPERSTAR which, like the STAN SMITH, is based around a relatively traditional look: a white leather upper, set off by black detailing on the three stripes and heel panel. A combination of black and gold foil branding and a white shelltoe continues the traditional look and then brings it to a standstill with the rainbow-coloured paint splatter that features on the white midsole and sides of the upper. There’s no mistaking what these shoes are made to celebrate.
The ADIDAS ORIGINALS LGBT PRIDE PACK is scheduled to drop on SATURDAY 6 JUNE. Make sure to check back with us later in the week for updates.
