Jordan Brand has shared official photos of the highly-anticipated re-release of the NIKE AIR JORDAN 11 RETRO SPACE JAM, which will drop in December.
In celebration of the 20th anniversary of Space Jam, Nike will release a huge apparel and footwear capsule, but this will surely be the centrepiece. The shoe that Michael Jordan originally wore in the animated movie, then in the NBA, is being reimagined for the special occasion. As such, this release pays homage to the pair Jordan wore during the 1995 NBA Playoffs, so the upper is constructed from an all-black mesh and a patent leather mudguard, which has a higher cut this time around, rising in the heel. Just above it, the number ’45’ is stitched into the heel tab, rather than the more familiar ’23’ (Jordan wore the number ’45’ during the ’95 season, after he came out of retirement). Other details include the Concord blue Jumpman logo, Nike Air insoles, a white midsole and translucent outsole, as well as ‘Jumpman/Jordan’ inscribed on the tongue tab. Further satisfying the manchildren at The Drop Date, the Space Jams will be housed in special edition Looney Tunes and Bugs Bunny themed shoebox. This will include an illustration of Bugs Bunny and The Monsters creating the number ’23’ by wrapping their arms around each other, while the number ’45’ will be on the wrapping paper, and a dot pattern ‘XI’ on the plastic cover.
The NIKE AIR JORDAN 11 RETRO SPACE JAM is scheduled to drop on SATURDAY 10 DECEMBER with NIKE and select retailers. Take a look at the shoe below, and click on the banner to shop the drop via our release page…
