NikeLab x Olivier Rousteing – Football Nouveau Collection – A First Look
The NIKELAB x OLIVIER ROUSTEING: FOOTBALL NOUVEAU COLLECTION is the second collaboration in NikeLab’s Summer of Sport series, resulting in a blend of technical Nike innovation matched with Rousteing’s creative vision.
French fashion designer Olivier Rousteing is renowned for tailoring formfitting silhouettes, but his love of football provides the basis of this new collection. “Fashion is usually about the catwalk and the glamour, but with Nike it was about performance and the athletes,” explains Rousteing. Taking the lifestyles of professional football players competing in Europe’s biggest championship this summer as inspiration, these iconic football designs are re-imagined through modern silhouettes and paired with luxury finishes, including touches of gold: the color of champions.
The NIKELAB FOOTSCAPE MAGISTA x OR reimagines the Nike Magista football boot and re-engineers it for everyday wear with the Air Footscape Freemotion tooling. The Flyknit upper is decorated with metallic gold embroidery, while the heel features a metallic gold zipper. A leather pull-tab and metallic gold aglets add a luxurious touch. The NIKELAB FREE MERCURIAL FLYKNIT x OR features a Flyknit upper for a sock-like fit and a Nike Free outsole for flexible comfort. The Flyknit upper is detailed with metallic gold embroidery, while the heel features a metallic gold zipper. The leather pull-tab and metallic gold aglets add an element of luxury.
The NIKELAB ROSHE TIEMPO V x OR blends the upper of the classic football style with the lightweight and comfortable Nike Roshe outsole. Metallic gold accents and a metallic gold badge on the heel connect back to the apparel collection. The leather upper and asymmetric tongue nod to the performance boot. The NIKELAB FREE HYPERVENOM 2 x OR finds Nike’s most agile football boot reinterpreted for the street. The upper is embellished with metallic gold and high-gloss film for a luxurious finish. A gold embroidered patch on the sockliner ties to the apparel collection, whilst the flexible Nike Free outsole helps enable the wearer’s natural motion.
The accompanying NikeLab N98 Jacket x OR and NikeLab Top x OR finish the collection off perfectly.
