Portland-born and raised rapper Aminé is reeling in another vibrant New Balance collaboration, this time utilising the archival 740v2 silhouette as the sneaker muse.
Telling the story of the artist’s musical beginnings, the kicks pay homage to Benson Polytechnic High School through an array of unmissable hues, simultaneously reflecting Aminé’s playful persona. Just like the rapper’s first collaboration with the Boston-based powerhouse, the striking offering was initially hinted at with a cryptic-billboard-insta-post, listing his impressive achievements thus far. Offering an elevated take on 2010’s NB 740 model, the partnership kicks the new iteration off with a bang – so let’s take a look at the details.
Acting as the perfect canvas, the wide mesh base dons a bright orange hue that immaculately contrasts the royal blue overlays. Providing an opulent shine across the exterior, the construction boasts a handful of pearlescent segments throughout the exterior for that extra Aminé-coded flair. Stepping up a notch from its 2010 predecessor, the silhouette arrives equipped with toggle closures and rope laces, ensuring an extra large serving of functionality and outdoor steez.
Continuing to honour Benson Polytechnic High School, the place in which the Grammy award winner started his musical career, the shoebox mimics a MacBook laptop, showcasing stickers and even a keyboard! And all of that wasn’t enough, Aminé will be giving back to the community with a generous $25,000 donation to Benson Tech’s Radio KBPS program.
