Release reminder: the Futura x Nike JAM ‘Olympics’ gets a wider release
UPDATE 12/09/2024: Following the 2024 Olympics, we’re excited to see a familiar design make its return. The Futura x Nike collection, created specifically for breakdancers, also featured the standout Futura x Nike JAM. The design was a huge hit and sold out fast, but now we’ve got some good news for all fans! The Futura x Nike Jam gets a wider release at Nike and several retailers on Friday, 13th September 2024 at 08:00am.

The Futura x Nike Breakdancing Collection
UPDATE 29/07/2024: Alongside the Nike Jam, Futura has drawn inspiration from hip-hop history to create a clothing collection specifically for breakdance athletes from Japan, America, and Korea. Some gear will be available to the public, hitting NIKE & SELECTED RETAILERS on 1ST AUGUST 2024.
ORIGINAL STORY 16/07/2024: Adding to his extensive (and impressive) portfolio, graffiti artist Futura returns to the Swoosh for an artistic take on the Nike Jam.
Proudly holding a long-lineage of collaborators in the fashion space from Crocs, to Birkenstock, to Supreme, Leonard McGurr (better known as Futura) is an incredible creative force. Throughout his long-standing relationship with Nike, which began in 2003, the alliance has garnered a respected reputation amongst sneaker connoisseurs. Dropping an eye-catching SB Dunk Low iteration earlier this year, it’s apparent that the duo aren’t taking their foot off the pedal just yet, working on something special for the Olympic Games 2024.
Utilising the newly-created breakdancing Nike Jam silhouette as its muse, this collaboration perfectly welcomes this new model into the Swoosh family tree. Let’s take a look!
A Closer Look at the Futura x Nike Jam (FZ8966-100)…
In case you weren’t made aware, the sport of breaking is a new entry of the Olympics, ready to make its debut in the Paris 2024 Olympics. And of course, with all of Nike’s recent efforts in the prestigious sporting event, it makes perfect sense that they’d craft something special for the occasion. Initially revealed during the Swoosh’s On Air event in Paris, the breaking-specific shoe is tailor-made to excel in the sport, taking shape via unique tooling.
As well as an upside-down Swoosh that features on the lateral sidewall of the left shoe (for those remarkable moments where breakers defy gravity), the shoe stands as a testament to the brand’s commitment to innovation. This is where Futura comes in, injecting his distinctive steez into the silhouette. Expressing the artists’ signature art motif within the insole and inferior lining, pull tabs and insoles, vibrant hues of red, pink, blue and orange flood the detailing for a pop of colour.
