ORIGINAL ARTICLE 04/07/24: Following the positive response to the nostalgic ‘Ultramarine’ colourway that landed in May, the Swoosh aren’t pulling back on the retro vibes just yet, with the Nike Air 180 ‘Concord’.
If you’re an old school sneaker enthusiast, then this iconic palette might just ring a bell. Despite being commonly associated with the Air Jordan 11, the ‘Concord’ colourway actually dates back to way before its 2018 release. Making a triumphant appearance in 1992, Michael Jordan flexed the ‘Concord’ offering during the Barcelona Olympics, firmly cementing its place in the Air Max hall of fame.
Receiving a highly exclusive re-release just over a decade ago in 2013, the offering flaunted a few subtle design updates, including a more contemporary Air unit and heel branding. However, the streets are saying that the new pair will be more of an ode to the OG construction.
Proudly repping a palette of ‘Summit White’, ‘Metallic Gold’, and ‘Bright Concord’, the offering at hand exudes an immaculately clean essence. Expressing a textural construction of mesh, suede, and leather, a gold Swoosh brings the momentous vibes in abundance, affirming the shoe’s Olympic legacy. The only notable update includes a slightly larger Air bubble than the OG, bringing a subtle, yet iconic edge to the ‘Concord’ offering.
At the time of writing, there’s no sight of a release date for the Nike Air 180 ‘Concord’ (FJ9259-101). However, in the true nature of the shoe, we can anticipate a drop around the time of the upcoming Paris Olympic Games 2024.
