Air Jordan 4 Military Blue 2024

The Air Jordan 4 Military Blue 2024 makes a grand return, and it’s closest thing to the OG that we’ve seen thus far!

Amongst a fully packed year of highly-awaited sneaker drops, there’s one particular release that sneaker enthusiasts all over are buzzing for. You guessed it – it’s the Air Jordan 4 Military Blue. Not a golf-tailored iteration, or a black version. The 1989 OG is back, enduring its first ever re-release since 2012. The Jumpman grail has seen its share of adaptations, so we’ve curated a brief history of the model to get you up to speed. Let’s get into it!

Let’s Take it Back to ‘89

Born into the Jumpman legacy as the fourth Air Jordan shoe to ever grace the market, sneaker connoisseurs love the AJ4 for its unparalleled quality and design. Crafted by none other than Tinker Hatfield, the model can be differentiated by panels of breathable mesh on the tongue and sidewalls. Support wings along the eyestays allow wearers to adapt the fit and style of the laces, also acting as a unique factor when it comes to visual appeal.

Arriving in November 1989 alongside three colourways of Black Cement/Bred, White Cement and Fire Red, the Military Blue AJ4 and its counterparts retailed for $100. Although this might not seem like much now (considering the state of resell prices these days), this was actually one of the most expensive basketball shoes at the time. Since its original debut 24 years ago, the iconic model has endured two re-releases as a Retro, in 2006 and 2012. And although these drops did quench the thirst of Jumpman aficionados, there was a key element that separated them from the OG.

Enter, the Air Jordan 4 Military Blue 2024

Air Jordan 4 Military Blue 2024

At a quick glance, the original Air Jordan 4 Military Blue and its 2006/2012 Retro counterparts seem nearly impossible to tell apart. That is, until we look towards the back of the silhouette. The inaugural model expresses a Nike Air emblem at the heel, which was swapped out for the conventional Jumpman logo that we’ve now grown accustomed to. Replaced with the intentions of distinguishing Jordan Brand from Nike, the OG heel was never to be seen again… until now! The 2024 release will in fact bring back this lost element, alongside the authentic exterior and detailing. So, you can see why this drop is a pretty big deal.
