Ever since 2021, Bad Bunny x adidas Originals have hit the ground running with dynamic collaborations that break the internet time and time again. adidas describes the synergy as ‘an extension of Bad Bunny’s creative vision’, blended with their archival heritage. Utilising iconic silhouettes within each iteration, the duo have proved that they can bring the heat, and don’t plan on slowing down anytime soon. Starting right from the beginning, we’ll be listing every release so far from the Puerto Rican star and Three-Stripes. So sit back, kick off ya kicks, and get into the greatness!
Drop Date: 17th March 2021
It’s 17th March 2021, and Bad Bunny x adidas have just released their first collaborative sneaker. Sure, Bad Bunny may be an international sensation and three time Grammy winner, but even he must start the day with a cup of coffee. Using this as inspiration for the inaugural release, an array of brown hues dress the exterior. Utilitarian vibes are brought into fruition through toggle detailing beneath enlarged collars, whilst laces take on a rope-inspired finish. Conventional adidas tongue branding is swapped out for the artist’s signature eye graphic, reminding us of the creative mind behind the kicks.

Only a month later, the dynamic pairing already had their sights set on the next release, the adidas Forum Low Buckle ‘Easter Egg’. As the name alludes, this model centres the Christian holiday Easter, expressing pleasant pink hues throughout. Although the iteration contrasts the earthy, muted tones of its predecessor, tonal depth is still achieved across the varied leather and suede textiles.

Arriving as the collaborative alliance’s third take on the Forum Low Buckle, the monochromatic ‘Back to School’ saw the silhouette adopt an all-black exterior. If the instantaneous sell-out response of the previous two offerings wasn’t enough to evoke mass hype, then an all-black model is just the trick. After all, you can’t beat simplicity, and this release proves my point entirely. Drawing inspiration from a personal stand-point (Bad Bunny’s school shoes back in the day), the iteration is as streamlined as they come.

After laying low in the Bad Bunny x adidas collaboration department for the latter half of 2021, the new year only meant two things for the superstar. More headline shows, and more hot sneakers. Arriving fresh off the release radar, the duo decided to take a detour from the Forum Low Buckle, turning their attention to the Forum Powerphrase. Merging the upper of the adidas Forum with the sole of the adidas Powerphase, this iteration signified a dynamic edge differing from previous iterations. Multi-coloured hues dance around the exterior, complimenting the neutral canvas, suede, and leather construction.

The following month, the duo released an innovative take on an adidas sneaker straight out of the 2000s vault, the Response CL. Landing in two palettes of ‘Cream White’ and ‘Yellow’, a melted ice cream effect aesthetic is applied to the overlays for a creative flair. Each variant showcases its designated colour throughout the exterior, whilst “El Ojo” eye graphics make a reappearance at the heel. After all, it wouldn’t be a Bad Bunny collaboration without its signature detailing!

Bad Bunny isn’t shy to express his enduring love for Puerto Rico, doing so consistently throughout his career. When the time came to reintroduce the Forum Low Buckle, Puerto Rico had the privilege of being the initial launch location, preceding the global release by several months. For a fortunate group of fans, a unique experience unfolded as they embarked on a private jet journey from Puerto Rico to New York to secure the sneakers and savour a performance by Benito. Although the construction of the model remains the same as its collaborative predecessors, this iteration adopts a captivating all-blue aesthetic. What’s not to love?!

Rounding-off another successful year for the Puetro-Rican superstar, the Forum Low Buckle welcomes a simple yet versatile ‘Cloud White’ palette. Considered by fans and sneaker enthusiasts as the ultimate instalment in the silhouette’s series, it visually embodies the joy reminiscent of an everlasting summer. Off-white tones gracefully interplay, serving as a final homage to the artist’s distinctive references within the series… or so we thought!

With the Forum Low Buckle no longer in the spotlight, anticipation grew regarding what would follow. The music video for “El Apagón” unveiled a fresh take on the classic adidas Campus, aptly named the Campus Light. Retaining many features from the Forum Low Buckle, such as padded leather collars, the distinctive “El Ojo” eye graphic, and a stacked tongue, the Campus Light made a striking return. Opting for the “Cloud White” theme once again, a creamy white iteration was crafted with a textured suede upper. Following its official debut, adidas revealed that the design drew inspiration from astrology, inviting fans to immerse themselves in the celestial realm of the zodiac.

During NBA All-Star Weekend, adidas Basketball presented a preview of its upcoming kicks, prominently featuring Bad Bunny’s Forum Buckle Low in a fresh iteration, despite prior indications that the collaboration had moved beyond the model. Tailored for the Cangrejeros de Santurce (Crabmen of Santurce) basketball team, the release has been exceptionally limited. So limited that only 50 pairs were available at the team’s La Tienda Cangrejera – The Crab Shop. While its construction aligns with previous releases, distinctive elements include a toe box pattern resembling a basketball, team branding, and golden text commemorating the team’s eight championships.

Kitted out in a mocha textured suede, the Bad Bunny x adidas Campus Light Brown seamlessly incorporates a plethora of light brown hues for a put together look that feels perfect for Autumn. Adopting the darkest shade on the sneaker, a chocolate-resembling leather floods the Three Stripes, adorned with conventional perforation within each segment. It wouldn’t be a Bad Bunny silhouette without dramatically enlarged proportions, and this iteration is no exception. Boasting a chunky rubber midsole and dual tongue, this model proves that more is more, giving additional support and comfort whilst proving aesthetically pleasing to the eye (if we do say so ourselves!).

Initially debuted in April 2023, the multi-hyphenate teased the kicks for an appearance at the WWE. Five months later, social media users from Puerto Rico began to share images of their local newspaper, but it wasn’t the news they were interested in. The ad page depicted the new adidas Response CL and a phone number, informing the caller of where the sneaker would drop. Talk about clever marketing! Adopting an earthy palette of ‘Ecru Tint’ and ‘Bronze Strata’ hues, this iteration achieves a dynamic persona through abstract overlays. A breathable white mesh base acts as the perfect canvas for the experimental upper, expressing each tone in a visually eclectic manner. Bringing a pop of colour is a violet purple, flooding the toe, heel and aglets.

Boasting a delicious creamy palette of neutral hues – it’s the Bad Bunny x adidas Campus ‘Deep Brown’. Drawing similarities to the previously released ‘Light Brown’ colourway, this attractive silhouette opts for a deeper tone within the suede mid-foot, pleasantly complimenting the otherwise light exterior. The artists’ signature branding adorns the tongue and footbed, which both flaunt a shade of baby pink. Although we don’t have an official release date for these kicks just yet, we can expect them to arrive around SPRING 2024. Check back for updates, as and when we have ’em.
