The Mid City Signs x Vans Vault x Footpatrol Collection Celebrates the Art of Sign Painting
The MID CITY SIGNS X VANS VAULT X FOOTPATROL COLLECTION pays homage to the often forgotten art form of sign painting with a little help from a West Coast friend, owner and founder of Mid City Signs, Javier Matias. Originally a student of Fashion Design at L.A. Trade-Tech, Javier was eating a grilled cheese when he spotted local graffiti artist Jamal Gunn Becker walking through his campus. Javier proceeded to follow Jamal and found himself immersed in the age-old world of sign painting by enrolling on one of the oldest courses run within the US. Now the go-to guy for L.A. storefronts, he’s also worked on projects with FTP, Midnight Studios, Coachella and Camp Flog Gnaw.
Footpatrol met Javier during a visit to Complexcon in 2018, which has opened the doors to this three-way collaboration with Vans Vault. The result sees three classic models transformed with splashes of paint and colourful typography, each flying the flag for Mid City Signs.
