Spiridon and On: the Nike Air Zoom Spiridon Cage 2 is Here
The release of the NIKE AIR ZOOM SPIRIDON CAGE 2 finds Nike dipping into the obscure depths of the Air Zoom archives for an unusual retro release.
The recent(ish) retro of the original Spiridon model was met with enthusiasm by many: the Roundel, Stash and KITH editions gave some extra spotlight attention to the underappreciated runner from 1997, and many general release colours followed. For 2020, Nike has uncovered the Spiridon Cage model – a design from 2003 that on first glance appears to be quite an evolution from its foundations. The reptilian style midsoles provide a solid base for the angled styles of the upper sections, which feature perforated leather and durable mesh panels for maximum comfort. So far, we’ve seen two colourways on the menu: Pistachio Frost/Metallic Silver and Saffron Quartz/Metallic Silver. An interesting release that should pique the interest of those who recall the Air Zoom series.
