Nike Air Max 90 Recraft

The NIKE AIR MAX 90 RECRAFT takes things back to the drawing board with a perfect 1:1 rendition of the original Air Max 90 shape from 1989. Now that we’ve got your attention, let’s take a closer look…

The Air Max concept was all about ‘making the invisible visible’, offering insight and a whole new perspective of Nike’s revolutionary cushioning system. With its bold construction, vibrant colouring and instantly-recognisable shape, the Air Max 90 took over where the Air Max 1 left off and stepped defiantly into the next decade, leaving all competitors floundering. Throughout the following years, the 90 established itself as a benchmark of footwear design, continuously refreshing itself in new colours and materials and receiving tweaks, revisions and improvements to the construction and shape. Whilst there’s little doubt that the most recent editions of the 90 are well-loved, many of those who recall the original design have voiced their desires for a release that replicates the original 1989 design and shape. Well, just in time for the 90’s 30th anniversary, Nike has done exactly that: welcome to the Nike Air Max 90 Recraft.

This return to the original form strips things back by reducing the padding in the toebox, giving the shoe a lower profile and a sleeker, less boxy shape. The authentic swoosh shape runs parallel to the quarter panel, with a pared-down, more dynamic mudguard running around the sides. The original plush lining and sockliner sit on top of the Air Max 1 outsole, which features a hidden ‘Easter egg’ on the underneath. Presented here in the Volt and Purple colourways, this release surpasses all expectations: everything is on-point and guaranteed to satisfy both purists and newcomers alike.

The Volt edition of the NIKE AIR MAX 90 RECRAFT VOLT is AVAILABLE NOW, with its Hyper Grape counterpart following on THURSDAY 16 JANUARY. Follow the banners below for stockist information on each respective release.
