The NEW BALANCE 990V5 MADE IN US brings back the classic 990 in an updated format this May.
The recent 997H suggested that 2019 is already shaping up to be a good year for New Balance, and now the Boston-founded footwear brand add grist to the mill by blessing us with another round of 990s. Now in its third decade of circulation, we’ve mentioned before that it was the first sports shoe to reach a then mythical $100 price point, setting itself above the rest as the most elevated and technical design of the moment when it debuted in 1989.
Its simple yet effective mix of pigskin suede and mesh has graced the shelves with updates in 1998, 2012, 2016, 2018 and now the v5 in 2019, which promises to be just as special as its predecessors. Initially previewed in images by SneakersER founder Rob Stewart, we know have official confirmation of the drop and it seems the model stays relatively unchanged, with a more rounded toebox being the only real distinct difference. Landing in a timeless choice of either Navy, Grey or Black; we can’t wait for this one to hit the shelves and streets.
